The aim of the solution implemented in ALSTOM Power, which is a world-class specialist in the field of energetic and transportation systems, was to enable the efficient administration of documents while the emphasis was placed on its integration both with the tools for document creation (MS Office and AutoCAD) and with the electronic mail system.
The solution was designed to allow for the administration of standard documentation (technological procedures of production, repairs or maintenance; working instructions; plans for inspections; etc.) as well as for the registration, preparation and archiving of the documentation related to a specific contract or project. The client thus obtains a comprehensive overview of the individual business cases, for which it is possible to trace back the complete valid documentation including the business documentation (a bid, an agreement, etc.) or technical documentation (drawings, procedures, etc.) and electronic mail.
Another benefit of the solution, which makes work more efficient mainly in the construction department, is the close interconnection between the document administration system and AutoCAD, thanks to which it is possible to open/save documents from/to the secured central document storage, to create new versions of drawings, to insert blocks from other centrally saved drawings, etc.
